SAFETY OFFICER, WPR

Description

The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) plays a vital role in ensuring the safe execution of industrial and maintenance operations within high-risk environments such as petrochemical and oil & gas facilities. At YGCE, we are urgently hiring qualified SAFCO and SATROP Approved WPRs to join our team for a SABIC Shutdown Project. This role is essential for bridging the gap between operational teams and the safety department, ensuring all work is carried out with full compliance to industrial safety standards. As a WPR, you will be responsible for obtaining, understanding, and executing permits before any on-site activity begins, ensuring the highest level of safety awareness among all team members.

Key Responsibilities

The Work Permit Receiver’s main responsibility is to coordinate and manage work permits for all field activities within the site. This includes reviewing permit requirements, conducting job safety assessments, and ensuring the implementation of hazard control measures. The WPR must verify that all tools, equipment, and personnel are prepared to perform tasks safely before work begins. Coordination with Safety Officers, Supervisors, and the Permit Issuer is vital to avoid accidents and ensure smooth workflow.

Additionally, the WPR is expected to monitor work progress, ensure permit validity, and report any safety violations immediately. The position demands maintaining constant communication with the control room and other departments during shutdown activities. Effective documentation, attention to detail, and quick response to emergency situations are crucial aspects of the role.

Skills and Knowledge

To qualify for this position, candidates must be SAFCO and SATROP approved, with solid knowledge of industrial safety procedures, permit systems, and shutdown operations. A minimum of three months’ valid Muqeem is required. Applicants should be proficient in understanding and communicating safety requirements, hazard identification, and risk management. Strong interpersonal and coordination skills are essential for liaising between departments and ensuring compliance.

Candidates should have a background in safety, engineering, or a related field, with proven on-site experience in refinery, petrochemical, or construction environments. Familiarity with SABIC safety regulations and the ability to handle multiple permits efficiently will be highly valued.
