RIGGER3 WPR

Job Title: Aramco Approved WPR (Work Permit Receiver)

Description

The position of an Aramco Approved Work Permit Receiver (WPR) is a highly responsible role within the oil and gas sector, particularly in industrial projects that operate under Saudi Aramco’s strict safety and operational standards. The WPR serves as the primary link between the work crew and the safety management team, ensuring that all work permits are properly issued, reviewed, and executed according to company and Aramco regulations. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient workflow on construction or maintenance sites. Since Saudi Aramco sets some of the highest safety benchmarks in the world, the role of a WPR is not only administrative but also deeply technical, requiring precision, vigilance, and deep knowledge of on-site safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

The Work Permit Receiver is responsible for handling all aspects of the permit-to-work (PTW) system, ensuring that no job begins without proper authorization and safety clearance. They coordinate between engineers, supervisors, and safety officers to verify that the job location and conditions meet safety standards before work begins. A WPR must inspect the site, assess hazards, and confirm that all control measures—such as gas testing, isolation, and lockout procedures—are in place. During operations, they monitor permit compliance and ensure that all personnel adhere to safety procedures. In case of any deviation or unsafe condition, the WPR must take immediate corrective action and report to the site authority. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed documentation and ensuring that all permits are renewed or closed properly upon task completion. This function is crucial in high-risk environments like oil refineries, petrochemical plants, and heavy construction zones.

Skills and Knowledge

To qualify as an Aramco Approved WPR, candidates must hold official Aramco certification, proving their understanding of the company’s safety management systems and procedures. A strong background in industrial safety, construction, or plant operations is highly desirable. The candidate must possess excellent communication and coordination skills, as they act as the bridge between site management and field workers. Attention to detail, a deep understanding of risk assessment, and the ability to read and interpret safety documentation are key. A solid understanding of confined space entry, hot work, and isolation systems is also required. Experience in multinational projects, especially within the oil and gas industry, is a major advantage. Candidates must have a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining zero-incident work environments.
