Both roles are essential for ensuring that all shutdown activities meet Saudi Aramco’s and SATORP’s stringent safety protocols. The Safety Officer acts as a guardian of health and safety regulations, while the WPR manages and authorizes work permits, ensuring that only safe, approved, and compliant operations take place on-site.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Officer is responsible for enforcing safety regulations, conducting safety briefings, and ensuring that workers adhere to SATORP’s safety policies. This role includes monitoring hazardous work zones, inspecting tools and equipment, and leading safety audits. The officer must also report incidents, investigate near misses, and implement corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence. Meanwhile, the Work Permit Receiver (WPR) coordinates between site supervisors, engineers, and safety teams to obtain and manage permits for all tasks. The WPR verifies that the job site is safe before work begins, confirms that all control measures are in place, and ensures the validity of permits throughout the shutdown period. Together, both roles ensure that all operations proceed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industrial standards.

Skills and Knowledge

The Safety Officer must have an in-depth understanding of safety regulations, risk assessments, and hazard control procedures.
