Safety Officer, Work Permit Receiver (WPR), and Standby Man

Job Title: Safety Officer, Work Permit Receiver (WPR), and Standby Man

Description

The roles of Safety Officer, Work Permit Receiver (WPR), and Standby Man are critical in ensuring the safety and compliance of industrial and construction projects. A Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring worksite safety, enforcing regulations, and preventing accidents, making their role vital for protecting both personnel and property. The Work Permit Receiver manages permits, authorizing and documenting work activities to ensure compliance with company and governmental standards. The Standby Man supports emergency preparedness by monitoring operations, responding to hazards, and assisting in fire watch or other critical safety tasks. In high-risk environments such as Jubail, where large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects are common, these roles are indispensable for operational efficiency and safety assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Officers conduct site inspections, assess potential hazards, enforce safety protocols, and provide guidance to workers on safe practices. They document incidents, maintain records, and report to management for continuous improvement in workplace safety. Work Permit Receivers handle the issuance, tracking, and closure of work permits, ensuring all work is authorized, risks are assessed, and procedures comply with company standards. Standby Men maintain vigilance on-site, monitor fire safety and emergency equipment, and provide immediate support in case of incidents. All roles require close coordination with supervisors, engineers, and other personnel to ensure operations proceed without compromising safety. The focus is always on prevention, accountability, and efficient response to maintain a secure work environment.

Skills and Knowledge

A Safety Officer must have deep knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, emergency response, and reporting procedures. Experience in industrial environments, particularly with Sabic or Aramco projects, is highly preferred. Work Permit Receivers need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with permit systems and workflow documentation. Standby Men must be alert, physically fit, and trained to respond to emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or operational hazards. For all roles, strong communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Candidates must also provide valid documentation, including Iqama, Muqeem, passport, medical fitness certificate, and Ajeer Chamber registration.
