Description
The position of WPR (Work Permit Receiver) in ARAMCO-approved projects plays a crucial role in maintaining workplace safety and ensuring that all operational activities comply with Saudi Aramco’s strict safety and procedural standards. A WPR acts as the authorized representative responsible for securing, managing, and controlling work permits in hazardous or restricted areas. This role is vital in the construction, oil, and gas industries, especially in high-risk environments such as Jafurah, where multiple contractors and heavy machinery operate simultaneously. The WPR ensures that every task is performed with full adherence to safety guidelines and without risk to personnel, property, or the environment.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of a WPR is to obtain and manage work permits from the client or site authority before any physical activity begins. This involves coordinating between site engineers, safety officers, and field personnel to ensure that all safety measures are in place. The WPR must inspect work areas, verify isolation of energy sources, and confirm that all safety gear and procedures are in compliance with ARAMCO’s standards. They are also tasked with ensuring that all workers understand the permit conditions and that activities are executed safely within the authorized time frame. Additionally, the WPR maintains clear communication with supervisors to monitor the progress of work and ensures immediate action in case of unsafe conditions or emergencies.
Skills and Knowledge
To excel as a Work Permit Receiver, candidates must possess a strong understanding of safety protocols, industrial operations, and ARAMCO’s work permit systems. Excellent communication and coordination skills are essential, as the role involves continuous interaction between various site departments. Candidates must have hands-on experience with risk assessments, isolation procedures, and confined space entry. Technical qualifications in safety management, mechanical, or electrical fields are preferred, along with ARAMCO approval certification. A good command of English and Arabic enhances site communication efficiency. Attention to detail, quick decision-making, and a proactive attitude toward safety are highly valued traits for this role.
